How We Cultivate
Utilising state of the art greenhouse technology and cultivation techniques, we are able to cultivate high yield cannabis in a highly controlled and steady environment. With the use of modern high-tech agriculture technology, our tunnels are specially designed to control lighting and the light cycle (photoperiod), whilst still being able to take advantage of periods of natural light. Temperature and humidity are monitored and controlled. This results in a shortening of the plant growth cycle and maximising the yield, by having multiple harvesting periods throughout the year.
How We Process
Our processing facility has been developed in line with the principles of GMP and operates according to a bespoke set of SOPs, adapted to local conditions and the availability of skilled labour to maximise the quality of our product. Our unique drying process employs precise climate and humidity control, and a ventilated environment. We dry trim our final product and use moisture and light control packaging materials to ensure a long shelf life and the retention of all beneficial components at optimum concentrations.
Energy Consumption
Calyx is committed to environmental sustainability and has included a fully off-grid solar power and battery back-up solution to be rolled out over the development period of our world class facility.
The high-tech and mechanical nature of our greenhouses rely heavily on energy consumption. Hence a key focus of our development has been on engineering a solution that will reduce our carbon footprint as well as our consumption overheads.
Calyx has partnered with a 100% black-owned energy company, Nesa Power, to develop and finance a fully integrated and off-grid solution. Our initial solar plant will generate 2MW of clean energy and have the necessary storage capacity to run our entire facility off-grid.
